OUR STORY

Our Story

Feed Arkansas Kids is a non-profit organization that provides weekend meals for homeless and food insecure children in Arkansas.

The concept is simple: children at risk of weekend hunger receive a meal pack with enough shelf-stable food to easily assemble into 7 healthy meals and snacks. Arkansas ranks #5 in the nation for child hunger. Feed Arkansas Kids' philosophy is simply to end child hunger by partnering with the schools in our communities to discreetly distribute food each week. The food is purchased with donations from individuals, businesses, and organizations, and ordered through the Arkansas Foodbank Network. Feed Arkansas Kids also accepts food donations directly from individuals and businesses.

We currently provide weekend meals to 1,600+ students in schools throughout Central Arkansas. Our program works with school districts in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Pulaski County, Sheridan, and Bryant.

SERENA MOORE

Serena Moore has been volunteering with Feed AR Kids for 4+ years. She serves every Wednesday evening putting together meal packs and she delivers to two elementary schools each week. Her fellow volunteers consider her to be the life of the party – always smiling, laughing, and bringing joy into the room.

Serena Moore has been a member of The Church at Rock Creek for about 5 years. Serena is a school counselor for Pulaski County Special School District. She has 3 brothers and 3 sisters & over 10 nieces and nephews. A few of Serena’s hobbies are gardening, volunteering, traveling, and cooking.

Serena Moore: “I am involved with Feed AR Kids because as a school counselor I see the food shortages that our children face every day.  I see the importance of having enough food to eat at home during the weekends. Many of my students are affected by food shortages and if I can do something to help fix that, then I’m all in.”

Serena Moore is a blessing to the children she works with not only as a guidance counselor but also as a caring heart who provides much needed food for them. And Serena is a blessing to Feed Arkansas Kids and her fellow volunteers.
