Patricia Erwin - "Hi, my name is Patricia Erwin and I am the school counselor at Pulaski Heights Elementary. The backpack program has been wonderful for my students. One of my students that I send the backpack home with is in the first grade. He lives with his grandparents, a little brother, and an older sister. His mother lived there until a few months ago when she died as a result of gunshot wounds suffered 2 years ago that left her paralyzed. The grandparents have little means to take care of the children. By sending food home, I know the children will have something to eat during the weekend. Another family I help is a brother and sister. They have an older brother and 3 younger siblings all under one roof. It is an extreme poverty situation.

The program really benefits my students and I know others in our district as well. Thank you for your incredible work."

Chelsea Miller –"I am supporting this cause because I know how it feels to be a child and not having any food for so long that just the thought of food makes you sick to your stomach. Not a good feeling but this is a great cause."

Deanna Alguire (volunteer) - "I have been a part of this ministry since the beginning. I have had the privilege of getting to know the Homeless Education Coordinators at the district level, Counselors at the schools and Principles. They know how real this need is for these children. They view our program as a partner in helping their children learn & grow. I remember getting a call from a Principal telling me that two of their students were living in a car with their Mom and asked if I could bring one extra bag of food. I could not get there quick enough!"

D McCollum - "Thank you for providing for our students. Not only am I grateful, but the students are very appreciative. One student expressed that she is thankful because the food that you provide helps to feed families and she just likes coming in to the office to get it because she likes that the school is helping out. Another student says he's glad to have food; and it's good too!! Once again, we really appreciate you and we are so thankful for your generous spirit… We appreciate our deliverer as well for always being so kind!"

Mary Beth Windom (volunteer)- "I've been participating in the delivery of the 'Backpacks for Kids" program for over 4 years & am so glad to be a part of it! To know that I am helping to supply kids with food for their weekends who would otherwise go hungry brings me joy. I know this is part of God's plan & the kids know it, too.”

Elliott Johnson – “This is a wonderful program. We have a large number of students who may not have enough food at home and this program really helps out. I have had parents and students come and thank Forest Heights for helping them, but the real thanks goes to you and The Church at Rock Creek!!! Thank you so much!!!"
